It’s things like this that make me hate living in Eastern TN. There’s a new YA book out called Good Enough by Paula Yoo. I would love to read this book because 1) it’s about the violin and 2) it’s a YA book and I love them. Since I’ve been spending so much money lately on books for the very reason I’m about to explain, I decided to do an experiment. First, I searched for the book in the PLCMC catalog. Lo and behold, there it was, ready to be checked out at the Morrison branch where I used to work. Then, I did the same thing in the Millennium Library Catalog which encompasses the ENTIRE eastern TN library system, including the universities. Did I get even one hit from that search? You guessed it – NO. I am so sick and tired of having to buy books because the people around here don’t give two flips about reading. I hope one day I get to work around here and I’m in charge of collection management. I will buy things that people want to read, and it seems to me that if a big library system like PLCMC has 15 copies of this new book, then maybe we should buy it too!!! Do people around here just not read at all? I realize that the Tri-Cities area combined with all the small towns around here don’t amount to Charlotte’s population, but still!! And get this, there is only ONE library in the whole system that ordered Fearless Fourteen by Janet Evanovich – and they only ordered ONE copy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (EDIT: Okay I lied, 4 libraries have ordered a total of 12 copies, but seriously, it took me clicking through tons of stuff to get that information!) Granted, there are already 26 holds on, so someone around here reads, but OMG. I don’t know how much longer I can take it without exploding.
Please, just look at this so you won’t get mad too…..

Yep you need to move back
I have a really close friend who lives near you and she complains about it all the time.

Hey Tina, do you have a blog set up still? I know you changed for awhile there. Just wondering – I miss hearing about your adventures
